Applications for Job vacancies are only accepted with an ITC TEFL qualification. A full list of current vacancies will be available to all graduates on completion of their course.

Example vacancies in China.

Employer: Mostly Chinese government owned schools, universities, colleges and private training centres.
Wage: 3500 to 6000 Yuan per month (this is about 3-6 times the national average).
Air ticket: Return economy air ticket, refunded after you have completed two semesters. You will be picked up by school personnel at the nearest airport to the school.


Accommodation: Free with facilities, ie. refrigerator, stove, air conditioning. TV, computer (internet accessible )and DVD player etc. the floor space ranges from 40 to 200 square metres.
Hours per week: 14 to 18 academic hours per week. (An academic hour is 45 minutes), if you work for private schools, the working hours are more.
Work days: Monday to Friday, with no weekend work. If you work for a private school you may have to work at nights and weekends.
Overtime: Paid with rate to be negotiated.
Tax: No tax is paid.
Holidays(days and dates): All holidays paid. 3 days in May, 3 days in October, winter holiday and 3/4 weeks in February.
Health Insurance: Usually a school will purchase medical insurance.
Bonus: 2000 - 2200 Yuan paid for winter holiday travel allowance.
Class size: Varies depending on the quality of the school. Usually between 20 - 50 pupils.
Colleagues: Most schools have a minimum of 2 foreign teachers up to 30 foreign teachers. A foreign director or an assistant teacher will help you with day-to-day details such as buying food, vegetables etc.
Teaching task: Almost all teachers are teaching oral and listening English only plus they may be asked to assist Chinese English teachers from time to time.
Age of applicants: 20 to 60.
Education background: Degree preferable but not necessary. High school certificate is insufficient, however if you have further education or adult education qualifications, please advise, these should suffice. Neutral accent required.

Example vacancies in Taiwan

Employer: Mostly Education Organisations that encompass, Children's English Language Schools and Kindergartens. Places at the schools are usually paid for. Recruitment occurs throughout the year.
Wage: Varies from school to school, job to job, there is the chance though to save a substantial amount of money throughout the year.
Air ticket: Return ticket sometimes included - you may be reimbursed for this once you have worked through one semester. Some schools include return air ticket
Accommodation: Teachers can rent locally to most schools. Rent is much cheaper on the edge of major cities.
Hours per week: 5.5 hours per day. Opportunity for additional work through private tuition or by working extra hours in the Kindergarten classes.
Work days: Many schools now work five days per week but in some schools you may also have to work on a Saturday.
Overtime: Payable - rate will be negotiated.
Tax: Tax is generally paid at 6%.
Holidays: Five weeks per year.
Holidays(days and dates): All holidays paid. 3 days in May, 3 days in October, winter holiday 3/4 weeks in February.
Health Insurance: Not included.
Bonus: Paid at the end of the year. $20,000 NT.
Class size: 10 - 20 students.
Colleagues: Will usually be from all over the world, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, as well as a core of Taiwanese speakers.
Teaching task: Almost all teachers are teaching oral and listening English, through text book exercises and interactive speaking and listening lessons. Teachers may be asked to assist other teachers from time to time and to take part in extra curricular activities such as putting on the school shows and sports days etc.
Age of applicants: 21 - 60.
Education background: TEFL Certificate, educated to degree level, native English speaker.

Example vacancies in London

Employer: Independent Language Schools.
Wage: 10.00 - 15.00 per hour dependant on experience.
Hours per week: 15 - 30 hours - between the hours of 9.15am and 6.30pm.
Holidays(days and dates): To be agreed.
Class size: One on One/Two.
Teaching task: Teaching Literacy, creating lesson plans, monitoring and reviewing student progress.
Age of applicants: 20 to 60.
Education background: TEFL Qualification.

Example vacancies across UK

Employer: Home-stay organisations.
Wage: 290.00 per week to provide accommodation and three meals per day and three hours of English Language Tuition each day.
Accommodation: To be done in your own home.
Hours per week: 15 Hours English Tuition - student will live with you.
Work days: Lessons five days a week.
Holidays(days and dates): Short term home stays so holidays not required.
Class size: One on One.
Teaching task: Spoken English.
Age of applicants: 20 to 60 - with accommodation.
Education background: TEFL qualification.

Example Vacancies Spain

Employer: Independent Language Schools.
Wage: Negotiable with school. Wages in Europe tend to be decided between applicant and school and are determined by experience and qualification.
Air ticket: Not included.
Accommodation: Provided by the school and on a shared basis.
Hours per week: Contracted to 15 per week - additional hours may be available.
Work days: Five days per week.
Overtime: Negotiable.
Holidays(days and dates): All holidays paid.
Class size: Varies depending on the quality of the school. Usually around 20.
Colleagues: Most schools have a minimum 4 foreign teachers.
Teaching task: Almost all teachers are teaching oral and listening English as well as partaking in all aspects and activities at the school, including culture days and events, supervision in end of year exams and administrative and organisational duties.
Age of applicants: 22 to 60.
Education background: TEFL Certificate. Degree preferable but not necessary.
