A Letter from Rebecca Greenall
Cartagena de Indias, Colombia
"I've been living here in Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean coast of Colombia for over a year now and loving every minute of it! The people are amongst the friendliest and liveliest I've ever come across. Teaching English has been great fun and very interesting.
The school in which I'm teaching is a military school for children of all ages, and as you can see from the photographs, I have my favourites! Although, I do find their motto; "Study and discipline" leaves a lot to be desired!!!
An average salary is around 3 million pesos for teachers with a degree but it is possible to find work without one. The climate is very good, hot and sunny but there is also a rainy season, which usually lasts from September to November. When it rains, it really rains!!
Despite all the bad reports, in my opinion, Colombia is the friendliest and most beautiful country in South America and I would highly recommend it to those of you with a sense of fun and adventure."
