Avril has worked in EFL since 1990. She has been a teacher trainer both here and in New Zealand for six years.

She was based in Brighton for 10 years and worked at Regent Language Training, teaching students from all over the world.

In 2000 she became an examiner for Trinity Examinations Board and worked in Spain, Italy, Brazil as well as all over the UK. She is also a published author of EFL materials.
