Alan was also recruited and trained as an Education Officer early on in his career for the British Council
before being posted to Kenya, East Africa where he worked for several years teaching English as a
Foreign Language to Kikuyu, W'kamba and Masaai students.
On his return he was appointed as a Principal Education Officer in Grand Cayman, West Indies.
Since retiring, Alan's passion for education and learning has given him scope to continue his work as an
Education Consultant with L.E.A.'s as well as lecturing on 'A' level courses at a Sixth Form College and working part-time as a TEFL Tutor.
He is also a National Course Leader for the Teachers Retirement Agency, chairing conferences throughout the UK.
He is married to Jane, also a teacher and has a daughter Alexandra and a son Jonathan, both in full time education.
